There is one more Major golf championship this year - the PGA Championship to be held on August 10-13 at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Here in New Zealand, we have two exciting tournaments coming up including the McKayson New Zealand Womens Open LPGA tour event at Windross Farm from September 28th-October 1 and the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship to be held at Royal Wellington on 26th-29th October.

Are you considering a golf tour to New Zealand? Perhaps you've discussed this with other golf travelers or friends and now you are deciding whether to go or not.

Here at PGNZ, we offer four standard packages around New Zealand but we also offer customised and bespoke packages such as the ultimate 21 day Premium New Zealand golf tour or a  six week "learn and play tour" or a quick 2-3 day golf weekend getaway. Whatever type of tour, whether guided or self-drive, we are able to accommodate your golf travel needs.

Coming to New Zealand on a golf tour is an excellent way to see the country. Not only do you get to play stunning seaside or links-styles marquee courses on the coast such as Paraparaumu , you also get to play coastal extravaganzas such as Cape Kidnappers or Kauri Cliffs. You can play golf in a unique wildlife sanctuary or have a geothermal golfing experience! You can play golf at Titirangi, New Zealand's only Dr Alistair McKenzie designed course, but also at Gulf Harbour, a championship course that has hosted the World Cup of Golf! Perhaps you would like to be surrounded by majestic mountains and stunning alpine views - well then Queenstown and its three spectacular courses of Millbrook, The Hills and Jacks Point will have you enthralled, awed and drooling for days and months. The memories however will be forever!

Once you have decided on the golf courses that you would like to play, your next thoughts will be around accommodation. New Zealand is blessed with a great selection of high quality luxury lodges, many of which are affiliated with Relais & Chateaux and have been rated as the best in the world by numerous travel magazines. In New Zealand, all marquee golf courses are either located next to a lodge or within easy access. Take your pick from the following:

  • The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs
  • Huka Lodge
  • Cape Kidnappers
  • Matakauri Lodge

With the golf and the accommodation decided, it's time to think about what else you might be able to do while in New Zealand. Perhaps you are a wine aficionado...well New Zealand is a major wine producer so a winery visit in any region you visit is a must. Of course, staying at the luxury lodges, your every dinner will be accompanied by the best regional wine.

New Zealand offers a wide variety of sightseeing activities from scenic helicopter rides to fly fishing for salmon or trout to night sky viewing to Maori cultural experiences to wildlife experiences such as whale watching.

With all of the above thought about and considered, it is time to let us put together a personalised itinerary for you to book.

The next step after all that is to book your flights, wait for your departure date and then fly from wherever you are to "the land of the long white cloud", Aotearoa, New Zealand. We will be waiting at the airport for you, with a smile and welcome pack.
