Heidelberg Golf Club
One of two reciprocal Maungakiekie golf clubs in Melbourne, Heidelberg enjoys a rich history of golfing dating back to the early 1880s.
According to club tradition, "No man shall drink on his own”, “let us drink the Club into prosperity”, which has been transferred from Member to Member over the years, and like Old Port they are improving with age."
The par 72 18 hole golf course measures 6128 metres and has a slope rating off the blue tees of 130. Bordered by the Plenty River, the course cuts naturally through its surrounds. Panoramic views of the city skyline can be seen playing from the 11th through to the 14th hole.
Melbourne Airport Golf Club
The other of the two reciprocal Maungakiekie golf clubs in Melbourne, MAGC, is located a 56 wedge chip away from the Melbourne Airport and provides a 5698 metre Par 70 golf course that is relatively flat but undulating in places. The nearby airplanes landing and taking off can lead to dramatic photo opportunities. The club has a large dining area, a well stocked bar for thirsty golfers and a dance area for those keen to show their moves.
Woodlands Golf Club
Woodlands Golf Club is part of the prestigious sandbelt collection of golf courses in Melbourne. Highly regarded by golfing purists, the championship layout provides a true test of golf. Noted for its high level of course presentation and friendly club atmosphere, Woodlands provides a complete golfing experience.
World renowned golf course architect Tom Doak, who designed Cape Kidnappers and Tara Iti,and his company Renaissance Golf Design are the Club's current consulting architects and, as per the Woodlands Golf Course philosophy document, will be engaged prior to any proposed course alterations, other than minor renovations.
Yarra Yarra Golf Club
Yarra Yarra is the quintessential example of Australian golf club tradition and is part of the sandbelt collection of golf courses in Melbourne.
Designed by Alex Russell who was in participation with Dr Alister MacKenzie, the course is an absolute delight to play.
The superb greens and bunkers are the highlight at Yarra Yarra and as good as many of MacKenzie’s own creations. Typically large, fast and undulating, the greens feature some of the most extreme slopes in Melbourne, while the bunkers are constructed to blend naturally with their surrounds and are intrinsic to the strategy of each hole.
The course has been the scene of many major tournaments in its history, leading to world-wide recognition by amateurs and professionals alike.
Growling Frog Golf Course
Frogs can't actually be heard growling at you when you play this pictureseque inner city 18 hole Par 72 Melbourne golf course.
The course is set on 280 acres of picturesque, gently undulating land and is routed through spectacular ancient trees, creating an inspiring setting and providing golfers with a unique experience.
The bar overlooks the course and offers a warm friendly environment.
Yarrambat Golf Club
A relatively new course, established in 2005, this course oozes Aussie flavour and enjoys a strong membership base.
Set amongst the gum trees this 18 hole course is an enjoyable experience and the perfect place to soak up the surburban Melbourne golf culture.
Feel the continental pull of golf in Australia.
Experience a small region of Australia that is brimming full of world class golfing facilities and spectacular scenery
